School Bond Proposition #1 - Muldoon Area Middle School Construction

Proposes constructing a new middle school in Muldoon to help relieve overcrowding at Central, Clark, and Wendler middle schools . It will serve students in grades six, seven, and eight, which will reduce existing overcrowding at several northeast Anchorage elementary schools and allow room for growth at those schools. This project qualifies to receive 60 percent state reimbursement, subject to annual legislative appropriation. [More information about State Debt Reimbursement program. ]

School Bond Proposition Proposition #2 - School Renovations/Additions and Designs

Proposes funding to continue next phases of high school renovations and to do preliminary design work on a replacement facility for Clark Middle School.

These projects are qualified to receive either 60 or 70 percent debt reimbursement from the state, subject to annual legislative appropriation. [More information about State Debt Reimbursement program. ]

Recommendation for Special Election for School Bonds: Anchorage School Board memorandum recommending the two bond proposals. Approved at their August 2, 2004 meeting, it was then sent to the Anchorage Assembly.

Municipality of Anchorage Ordinances

Ordinance No. AO 2004-118 (Muldoon Area Middle School Construction), an ordinance providing for the submission to the qualified voters of Anchorage, Alaska, the question of the issuance of not to exceed $52,000,000 of General Obligation Bonds of the Municipality of Anchorage to pay the costs of educational capital improvements in the Municipality of Anchorage and the question of an increase in the municipal tax cap limitation to pay associated operations and maintenance costs at a special election in and for the Municipality of Anchorage on November 2, 2004. APPROVED 9-7-04
