PLAN
Taking the PLAN® during tenth grade will help students to take a realistic look at their academic strengths, weaknesses and career-related interests. The PLAN results will help students make or modify plans for the remainder of their high school career and their future. |

ACCUPLACER
The ACCUPLACER test is an assessment for college readiness. It provides useful information about academic skills in math, English, and reading . The results of the assessment, in conjunction with academic background, goals, and interests, are used by academic advisors and counselors to determine course placement for college. |
Career Ready 101
Career Ready 101 is a free comprehensive career training course offered by the State of Alaska. It is an integrated approach to exploring careers and their skill requirements, building workplace skills using KeyTrain®, and creating life-literacy with such skills as financial awareness and job searching. It is the primary ASD curriculum to prepare students for the 11th grade WorkKeys test. The test cover “Reading for Information, Locating Information, and Applied Mathematics" |

ASD Graduation Requirements
Students must complete 22.5 credits and pass the state mandated High School Graduation Qualifying Exam to receive a diploma. Seniors who do not pass the exam will receive a certificate of achievement. |
WorkKeys
WorkKeys® is a job skills assessment system that helps employers select, hire, train, develop, and retain a high-performance workforce. As juniors begin to refine their career interests, it is important to make the connection between classroom learning and how that applies to the real world. Career planning encourages students to become aware of the type of skills required for specific occupations and learn about the expectations in the work place. WorkKeys results will provide students with a better understanding of their readiness for the workforce in general, as well as specific jobs and careers. |

Alaska Career Information System (AKCIS)
The Alaska Career information system is a comprehensive, interactive, Web-based education system designed for Alaskans. A perfect avenue for students to create a portfolio to store a resume, college essays, and any certificates show skills and accomplishments. This site also allows students to store career research results. |

High School Graduation Qualifying Examination (State of Alaska info)
The High School Graduation Qualifying Examination (HSGQE) measures minimum competencies of essential skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. Passing all three sections of the HSGQE is part of the requirements to receive a diploma in the State of Alaska. |

Alaska Performance Scholarship
Governor Parnell proposed the Alaska Performance Scholarship (APS) in 2010 as an invitation to excellence, extended to Alaska students, parents, and educators. The APS is a merit-based scholarship that provides an opportunity for any future Alaska high school graduate who meets a core set of requirements to receive funding to pursue college and/or career training in Alaska. |
