Miss Mimi's Music Room

Miss MimiMiss Mimi’s Music Room is a music and literacy television program for children ages 3-7. Miss Mimi introduces children to musical concepts and early literacy skills in reading and math.

Each episode features Miss Mimi singing and speaking, reading aloud, interacting with puppets, and introducing musical instruments. She does this with the help of her fellow cast-mates, props and activities appropriate for young children.

Miss Mimi is the program’s host
Miriam DeLap has been the music teacher at Lake Otis Elementary since 1983. Her favorite type of music is classical. Download Miss Mimi's brochure here »

Meet the Miss Mimi characters

Seemore Instrument Seemore Instrument, musical instrument aficionado
Seemore demonstrates one of 69 instruments on each program giving children the opportunity to “see more instruments.” Seemore is a member of the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra, where he goes by his given name of Hal Nonneman.

Rita Letter Rita Letter, alphabet expert
Rita introduces letters and words and encourages children to “read a letter.” Rita, also known as Elizabeth Hunt, is the music teacher at Russian Jack Elementary.

Noah Number Noah Number , official counter
Noah wants all children to “know a number.” He enjoys counting objects with the audience. The voice of Noah is provided by David Molletti.

Pat-A-Rhythm Pat-A-Rhythm, rhythm master
Pat is 6’ tall and enjoys playing rhythms on a drum. He lives at the University of Alaska Anchorage. He is brought to life by Frances Lautenberger and Shawn Kloepfer.
