Enhance academic development

Advocacy
“Each one, reach one.” C&TE Advisory Members will:
Invite
and encourage one other influential person in the community to become involved
in the C&TE Advisory Council and increase awareness in the community by
making at least one speaking engagement at an organization to promote the
purpose of the

Realign the Educational Principles and Practices
“Each student should be supported with classes
and counseling that will promote their success after graduation.” C&TE
Advisory Members will:
Design
and implement a marketing promotion and related materials to encourage
educators to counsel all students appropriately to make curriculum choices that
enrich their career choices.
3.
Recognize and promote C&TE Advisory Members will:
Focus
on helping students be successful in being gainfully employed after graduation by
providing real training and experience and preparing them for the challenges of
the work place…completing job applications, emphasizing and practicing work
ethics, reinforcement of good behaviors, and participation in Cooperative
Education and On-The-Job training programs.
Provide individual teachers with real work place training through work
experience and job shadow programs.
4. Review ASD course curriculum and advocate for
classes that support Career and Technology Education. C&TE Advisory
Members will:
Provide representatives from
the advisory council to serve on the ASD C&TE Curriculum Committee for
Middle and High School.
Action Items for
the Career & Technology Education Advisory Council
I. Advocate:
1. Be a voice for positive change towards workforce
development.
2.
Provide testimony at appropriate public meetings.
3.
Provide written responses to State
and Federal
4. Extend the School Business Partnership efforts to
include engagement with business supervisors, training or human resources staff
responsible for hiring employees.
5. Attract
active business representatives to advisory council.
6. Increase
awareness within the business community, as to the opportunity they have of
hiring students, placement, tax incentive credits, etc. Promote and support
existing Coop and OJT programs.
II. Realign the Educational Principles and
Practices
1. Promote
a sequence of classes that follows a career pathway of education for all
students. Establish and model K-12
career pathways as a district-wide program, so every ASD graduate has a
plan for employment or post-secondary training & education.
2. Promote
standards-based learning and assessment for all C&TE curriculum.
3. Integrate vocational and academic education to improve
all student achievement. Promote contextual teaching and learning instruction.
Alter and realign exclusive focus on the academic stereotype.
III. Recognize &
Promote:
1. Professional development of all teachers. Provide
business and industry learning experience.
Assist in job training for CT staff
2. Employability
skills of all students. Provide training & experience for students,
preparing them for workforce…i.e. attendance, work ethic, reasons to be
motivated, improvement of math and literacy (communications skills).
3. National
and industry certifications for students and
teachers
4. Certificates
& recognition of best practices of Career & Technology Education.
IV. Review & Recommend:
1. Review ASD course curriculum.
Participate on curriculum review committee.
2. Provide
an annual review of Council objectives and goals and realign as needed.
