Black History Month is an opportunity to promote awareness of contributions of African Americans to our cultural history in the United States. Library users may want to know about African American authors. Not everyone who writes materials with African American topics or features African American characters is an African American.
Some authors in the list below are African or Caribbean African writers; some are Canadian. I have included those who write fiction for children on material housed in the Anchorage School District.
