Guidelines for ESL Placement

This grid provides guidelines for meeting the individual needs of each ESL student in order (1) to place ESL students in the appropriate level class and (2) to determine which classes need to be offered in the master schedule.  ESL staff members discuss and determine student placement individually. The ESL class/levels are analyzed based on the most recent BMEP assessments, grades, Benchmarks, CAT/Terra Nova scores, number of years in U.S. schools/exposure to English, needed credits, and teacher recommendation.
