Corrected Lesson (Caution!)
Seventh grade teachers are required to teach Vocabulary Lesson #1 (Word Parts: Base Words, Prefixes, Suffixes, and Roots) from the Standards Lesson File sometime during quarter #1. The PDF file on the EasyPlanner for this lesson has a typo. (The misspelling for the word “add” in the student directions will result in potential behavior issues.) Please use this corrected PDF with students. McDougal Littell has been informed and will fix this issue in their next update of the EasyPlanner software.
Classzone.com
The McDougal Littell Web site for teachers at www.classzone.com provides teaching resources that are free to any user. If you create a teacher account using the code in the front of your teacher’s edition, you will have access to additional resources such as Activity Maker and Professional Development videos.
Language Arts Wiki
In fall 2008, we began a middle school language arts wiki to share resources with one another and to have districtwide discussions. During the ASDSA 2009, teachers who participated in the Doing What Works class uploaded customized documents. Be sure to check out these valuable ideas. You will find calendars for the first month of school, annotated comments about the literature selections, ideas for core novels, etc. Click here to go to the wiki.
Middle School High Five
Click here to download a list of resources from the McDougal Littell Literature program that support each of our High Five strategies.
Online Student Textbooks
All middle schools have subscriptions to the online textbook for their students. Teachers set up user names and passwords at school. Families who do not have access to the Internet can request an alternative version of the textbook to use at home. Quantities are limited at each school. Click here to download a parent letter to send home (PDF).
Technology Help
If you are having trouble with any of your technology pieces, please contact your building technology coordinator to see if he/she can help troubleshoot. The technology help desk at McDougal Littell is also extremely helpful (1-800-727-3009).
