ASD to offer free breakfast and lunch programs during summer

The Anchorage School District is participating in the Summer Food Service Program sponsored by the USDA. The program will provide meals to all children free of charge.

The program is open to all summer school and neighborhood children age 18 and younger. Meals will be provided weekdays at the following sites on a first-come, first-served basis:

Begich Middle School, June 10-July 15.

Breakfast: 7:45–8:15 a.m.

Lunch: 12:15–12:45 a.m.

Chinook, Russian Jack and Tyson elementary schools, June 8-July 17.

Breakfast: 8:30–9 a.m.

Lunch: Noon–12:30 p.m.

Williwaw Elementary School, June 8-July 9.

Lunch: 12:30-1 p.m. Monday-Thursday only.

In addition to the five school sites, sack lunches will be offered at Mt. View Lions Park noon to 1 p.m. on weekdays from May 26 – August 7.

All Summer Food Service Program locations will be closed on July 4.

Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for everyone regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, age or disability. There will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Any person who believes he or she has been discriminated against in any USDA-related activity should write or call:
