Thursday after-school activities update

Please note the following changes to after-school activities for Thursday, Jan. 12.

Canceled:

• ASD Math Night on JBER Added, 4:40 p.m.
• All elementary after-school activities
• 21st Century Community Learning Center program for elementary students
• All out-of-district sports and activity travel scheduled for Thursday-Saturday; including all trips to the Kenai Peninsula and the Mat-Su Borough
• Girdwood after-school bus routes: 621, 622, 623, the Turnagain Arm portion of route 610, and the Girdwood activity bus
• High school bowling match in Eagle River
• All middle school activities except Begich Middle School. Updated, 2:30 p.m.
• Middle school gifted parent forum Added, 2 p.m.
• All Polaris K-12 activities Added, 2:10 p.m.
• Elementary Honor Choir rehearsal at Begich Middle School Added, 2:10 p.m.

Continue as scheduled:

• High school after-school activities, including those in Eagle River
• After-school activities at Begich Middle School
• ASD Math Night on JBER
• 21st Century Community Learning Center program for Begich Middle School

Individual schools may choose to cancel activities based on road conditions in the area of the school.

District buildings will remain open for groups scheduled to rent ASD facilities. It is the renter's discretion whether to continue their planned activity.

ASD Transportation Director Steve Kalmes said the district will chain all Anchorage school buses for its afternoon routes and encourages families to be patient if buses run late due to slow driving conditions across the municipality.

A decision on school and activities schedules for Friday will be determined at a later time following a thorough review of conditions.
