Anchorage, Alaska – April 24, 2012- A number of local schools and businesses are being recognized with STAR Awards for their efforts this school year. The STAR Awards honor the best of the best in the Anchorage School Business Partnership program. These exemplary partners will be honored at the STAR Awards Recognition Luncheon held at the Dena’ina Convention Center on Wednesday, April 25th from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Doors open at 11:15 a.m.
The Anchorage School Business Partnership program, which began in 1991 as a joint venture between the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce and the Anchorage School District, has grown from 28 businesses to more than 500 partnerships throughout the city. Partners provide schools with guest speakers, classroom volunteers, work experience for students, material and monetary resources, as well as other special activities.
