ASD to offer free breakfast and lunch for children during summer

Meal program costs are supported by federal funding

The Anchorage School District is participating in the Summer Food Service Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The program will provide meals to all children free of charge.

The program is open to all summer school and neighborhood children age 18 and younger. Meals will be provided weekdays on a first come, first served basis at the following locations:

Anchorage School District Education Center
June 4 - 28
Monday and Wednesday noon - 1 p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday late lunch 4 - 5 p.m.

July 9 - 20
Monday and Wednesday noon - 1p.m.
Tuesday and Thursday late lunch 4 - 5 p.m.
Friday 8 - 9 a.m.

Baxter Elementary
June 4 - 28
Monday - Thursday only
Lunch at 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
Snack at 2:30 – 3 p.m.

Tyson Elementary
May 29 - June 29
Breakfast: 8:30 - 9:30 a.m., lunch: 11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Chinook Elementary
May 29 - June 29
Breakfast: 8:30-9:30 a.m., lunch: 11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Muldoon Elementary
May 29 - June 29
Breakfast: 8:30 - 9:30 a.m., lunch: 11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Muldoon Elementary
July 16 - Aug. 2
Monday - Thursday only
Lunch: 12:30 -1:30 p.m.
Snack : 2:30 - 3 p.m.

Begich Middle School
May 30 - June 29
Breakfast: 7:45 - 8:45 a.m., lunch: 12:15 to 1:15 p.m.

East High
June 6 - 22
Breakfast: 7:30 - 8:30 a.m., lunch: 11 a.m. - noon

In addition to the school sites, lunch will be offered at Mt. View Lions Park from 1-2 p.m. on weekdays from May 21 through August 3. No lunch will be available on May 28 or July 4.

Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for everyone regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, age or disability.
