Keeping track of all the information you need on a day-to-day basis can
be overwhelming. To help with that task, we've tried to
bring all the resources you need into one place. That's
a lot of information, so be sure to use both the
menu of resources on the right side and the lists below
to locate what you are looking for. If you still can't
find it, ask the webmaster at
webmaster@asdk12.org.

New to Alaska? Just moved to Anchorage? Or maybe you're sending
your child to school for the first time. Our newcomers' section
has helpful resources for parents facing these situations and special information for kindergartners and military families. Go to our newcomers' guide.
Moving out of the Anchorage School District?
When moving to a new school your student's records will need
to be transferred; however most schools do not allow
parents to transport them as they won't be considered
"official". Check with the school your child will
be transferring to for their specific process -- most
likely they will
contact the school here in Anchorage and request an official
record. To facilitate this process
know your current school's name, address, phone and
fax numbers. Staff is typically back in the office in
mid-August to
help with transferring records after the summer break.
Free online programs helps students develop skills
Parents interested in supporting their child’s development in math, reading and language arts skills can access the Student Online Achievement Resources (SOAR). SOAR is a free Web-based program designed for military families, but can be used by others as well. It allows parents to identify areas where students may need improvement and select instructional or remediation activities to meet those specific needs. See this brochure for more details, contact the district's SOAR coordinator, Joe Hackenmueller or check out the SOAR Web site.
Alaska's Statewide Library Electronic Doorway (SLED) provides free online homework help for students in grades 4-12 and beginning college. See the SLED Web site for additional details.
Free SAT/ACT preparation software available to Anchorage students
All ASD students and staff may request a DVD or CD of the PowerPrep software for free. Shipping and handling charges of $13.84 per program will still need to be paid. Read the informational flyer or visit the eKnowledge website.
Visiting schools
Parents and community members are welcome to visit our schools - we encourage you to be involved. In the interest of student safety, please be prepared to sign in at the office and show identification upon request. If a staff member stops you to ask for identification, please be aware that this is a safety precaution and is not intended to offend you or discourage your visit. Thank you for helping us keep our schools safe for students and staff.
