A lottery system is used to provide an equal opportunity for all students who request participation in one of the Anchorage School District's programs or schools other than the assigned District program or school and to provide grade level and gender balance. No student shall be denied participation because of a learning disability, handicapping condition, or special need.

Parents and students have many educational options within the Anchorage School District. The district offers these options because each student is important to us, and the instructional method that is the best for one child may not be the best for another.

Neighborhood schools Students at Denali Montessori
The neighborhood schools in Anchorage offer a top quality and well-rounded standard school education program. More than 90 percent of Anchorage School District students enjoy the comprehensive curriculum in the neighborhood schools. The district’s curriculum emphasizes the basic communication* skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. Students are schooled in mathematics, how to use a library and how to use and understand technology as a tool for learning and working. The standard program also includes social studies, health, science, physical education, art and music. Remedial and advanced classes are available in a variety of subjects.

For more information about an individual school, call the school principal. [ Online school finder tool | List of all neighborhood schools]
