 
Congratulations Chief Master Sergeant Morris Pickel (Retired) for
being named the 2007 Outstanding Air Force JROTC Instructor of
the Year. The award was presented by
the director of the Air Force JROTC
program to the top 10 percent of more
than 1,900 instructors worldwide.
Chief Pickel is a 17-year instructor at
West High and is known as an expert
who many Air Force units turn to for
advice. He’s helped establish Air Force
JROTC units at South Anchorage and
Eagle River high schools. He’s also sent
numerous teams to drill competitions,
taking home national championship
honors in 1998, 2001, 2004 and 2006.
