Year-End Procedures
Servers
- Leave servers turned on. If you are scheduled for construction, please see construction procedures below.
- Student folders will be deleted from the servers on July 31, 2008.
Construction Procedures
- If you are scheduled for construction and want to secure your computers in a single room with a separate key, create a Facilities Work Request referencing the construction project, start and end dates of construction, and a single "key contact." If you are having problems with the form or unable to access the form, contact Milton Kabia at 348-5101. All other desktop computers should remain connected via Ethernet, unplugged (power) and covered with a plastic garbage bag.
- If you have an OS X Server, please call the IT Help Desk at 742-4615 prior to the end of the year to coordinate a shutdown and restart.
Check Out Computers Over the Summer
- If computers will be moved from the home school to a summer school location, people moving the computers may contact the IT Help Desk at 742-4615 for assistance getting network connectivity. The IT Help Desk will be closed July 4, 2008 as will the rest of the ASD Administrative offices.
- If you take your computer home over the summer, follow check-out procedures at your school and complete the Equipment Check-Out form . Be sure your anti-virus software is updated immediately upon your return. Call the IT Help Desk at 742-4615 if you need assistance.
- Laptops - All laptops not checked out by the user should be secured on site over the summer. The check out procedure will be the same as for any other equipment checkout and users need to complete a Managed Laptop Computer Summer Check-Out form . For those teachers checking out their laptops over the summer, the IT Help Desk at 742-4615 will be available from 6:00a until 5:00p Monday through Friday. The IT Help Desk however will be closed from July 2-6, 2007 as will the rest of the ASD Administrative offices. Please be aware that they cannot connect to your laptop at your home. If they cannot resolve your issues over the phone, you can take your laptop to their office.
AV Repair
- AV Repair will provide cleaning and maintenance to computers that have been identified and are in a central location. AV Repair will provide a schedule and instructions.
Anti-Virus Updates
- After the summer break be sure and update your virus protection before reconnecting your computers to the District network.
Airports/Wireless Devices
- All airports and wireless devices should remain on over the summer. IT monitors those devices along with the rest of the network equipment.
