Norwegian Kick Sled
This sled can be used for students with orthopedic impairments affecting the lower limbs to participate in skiing or sledding activities. The student can stand on one runner and push with the unaffected limb or alternate using both limbs. Non-ambulatory students can sit in the sled while a peer pushes the sled. The non-ambulatory student can use poles to help push the sled along.

| Kuskokwim Syndrome |
The kick sled would be an excellent activity for students affected by Kuskokwim Syndrome. It is an arthrogryposis-like syndrome in the Eskimo which is called Kuskokwim disease for the Kuskokwim Delta area where it was observed. Multiple joint contractures affected predominantly the knees and ankles with atrophy and compensatory hypertrophy of associated muscle groups. (Petajan, et. al. 1969) |
