STAFF
Our
staff consists of
teachers of the blind/visually impaired, orientation and mobility
instructors, Braillist, materials specialists,
and teacher assistants. Teachers of the BVI either have a B.S. or
a M.S. in education of the blind and visually impaired. Often
teachers of the BVI have a regular education degree as well.
Orientation and mobility instructors have a M.S. in orientation and
mobility. Braillist have completed course work in transcribing
Braille and have passed an extensive exam from the Library of Congress.
Our materials specialists have spent many hours learning to adapt the
ASD curriculum to meet the needs of the BVI students. The teacher
assistants that work with the BVI program are skilled in a variety of
areas which may include; Braille transcription, sign language,
enlargement of print materials, tactile graphics, and unique
instructional skills for working with the BVI and Deaf/Blind
population.
