Appendix C contains basic information concerning educational space specifications (ed specs) for elementary, middle, and senior high schools. These educational specifications were compiled following Department of Education and Early Development (EED) guidelines. Since the adoption of these guidelines, EED has revised its guidelines from a net square footage to a gross square footage per student calculation. There have been other minor changes in the way that EED calculates allowable space, which is not directly reflected in the following ed specs. Therefore, the overall space allocations and capacity calculations in the following summaries do not reflect the current EED guidelines, though the basic building programs listed are still valid for building new, or remodeling, school spaces.
