Title VII Indian Education Program

Welcome to the Title VII Indian Education Program

We support schools as they provide opportunities for Native students to meet and exceed academic and cultural standards. We also seek to assist families with navigating our schools across the district.

Native Advisory Committee Public Forum

The Native Advisory Committee invites all parents/guardians and educators of Alaska Native and American Indian students in the Anchorage School District to attend a Public Forum on the 2015-16 Formula Grant Application Process.

The meeting will feature:

  • Data presentation from the Anchorage School District's Assessment and Evaluation Department on the academic progress of Alaska Native and American Indian students.
  • Overview of current Title VII services, the ARISE coalition, the Anchorage School District's Destination2020, and current Title VII program proposals.

You may also offer your comments under "Public Comments".

Join us for our 2015 Summer Enrichment Program!

We will feature traditional caribou skin tanning, cultural enrichment activities, art, dance, Alaska Native language instruction, PE, technology, math and science and more!

ANSEP Opportunities for Title VII Students

We are excited to announce that Anchorage School District has developed a partnership with the Alaska Native Science & Engineering Program in order to offer an exceptional summer opportunity for our Alaska Native students.  We are currently recruiting 5th, 6th, and 7th grade Alaska Native students who have a "B" average or above in their math and science classes and are on the early Algebra 1 track.

Middle School Academy will have two sessions:  June 10-21 & July 8-19. Click here for an application.  Completed packets can be mailed or emailed directly to the ANSEP office or handed in at the ASD Title VII Indian Education Office.  Applications are due on March 25th.

Anchorage School District will be hosting three informational sessions for families.

  • 2/24/15 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Chinook Elementary School in the library
  • 2/25/15 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Springhill Elementary School in the MPR
  • 2/26/15 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Clark Middle School in the library

Interested families and school staff are encouraged to attend in order learn more information about the program, meet ANSEP staff, and get help with completing their applications.  A flyer with information about these sessions can be found by clicking here.

Please feel free to contact the Title VII Indian Education office at 742-4445 or with any questions.

ASD's Title VII Indian Education Program has staff in schools across the district who concentrate their efforts on academic assistance, counseling and cultural enrichment. We receive funding from two sources: the U.S. Department of Education under Title VII - Indian, Native Hawaiian and Alaska Native Education and from the Anchorage School District for Native Education.
