What is Project Puqigtut? |
Puqigtut (pronounced boo-he-toot) is the Cup'ik work for smart people. We provide high school students with flexibility and options for earning required high school credits for graduation. If a student has failed a course in the past, is looking to get ahead, or is unable to fit into the traditional high school schedule we can help! |
Who can take a Project Puqigtut course? |
Alaska Native and/or American Indian high school students within the Anchorage School District. |
Who teaches the courses? |
All courses are taught by hand-picked Anchorage School District teachers. There are regularly scheduled opportunities to receive face-to-face assistance and instruction from teachers and staff during after-school hours and in the evenings. Throughout their coursework with Project Puqigtut, students will receive social service support and assistance from our dedicated project staff. |
What if I don't have computer or internet access at home? |
Computer equipment and internet connectivity for course use can be provided to eligible students at no cost while they are enrolled within Project Puqigtut. |
Do students and teachers ever meet? What if I need help? |
Fun and engaging field trips occur every year to project partner sites such as the University of Alaska Anchorage, Alaska Native Science & Engineering Program, King Career Center, the Alaska Native Heritage Center and more! |
How many classes can I take? |
Typically students take one course with Project Puqigtut in addition to their regular schedule at their high school. Students work on their course on their own time - we offer flexibility of time, space and pace. |
I've been accepted, now what? |
Once you are accepted into Project Puqigtut you will be notified and will need to attend an orientation with your parents/guardians. Orientation is a chance to fully understand Project Puqigtut, meet your teacher, check-out equipment and log-in to your online course. |
I'm enrolled, how do I log in? |
Students' login for Moodle is the same as how they log in to computers at their school. Typically, usernames are either lastname.firstname or lastname_firstname and the password is the Student ID#, however in some situations students have slightly different login names. If a student cannot log in to Moodle contact our office or contact MyHigh_Tech@asdk12.org with: student name, school, and ID#, once received account information will be returned. |
