Cup’ik word that means Smart People, pronounced boo-hee-toot
   

What is it?

A high school success program for 21st century Alaska Native students. This is a three year grant that works to help eligible students get on track to graduate!

Target

The project has a target of serving 600 students in three years by developing and offering seven core subject courses needed for graduation. Each course will be infused with academic strategies and culturally relevant curriculum with unlimited access for students. 

Objectives

  1. In years 2 and 3, increase of projects students earning enough credits to graduate
  2. Lower the dropout rate of project students
  3. Increase the % of project students who are proficient or above on state assessments
  4. Developing culturally responsive, rigorous on-line courses for LA 9 and 10, Algebra A and B, Algebra 1, Integrated Science and Biology
  5. Serve an increasing number of Native students each year (100 in year one, 200 in year two, and 300 in year three)

How?

Starting in Spring 2010, we will be offering culturally responsive, rigorous on-line core courses with unlimited access for students.
