Elizabeth Peratrovich Day, February 16

Elizabeth Peratrovich was an inspirational Alaska Native Civil Rights leader. She successfully lobbied to pass the first anti-discrimination law in the nation. On February 16, 1945 this landmark civil rights bill was signed into law for the territory of Alaska by Governor Ernest Gruening.
