February 16 is designated as Elizabeth Peratrovich Day, in honor of Elizabeth Peratrovich for the work she did to insure passage of the anti-discrimination bill in Alaska in 1945.

Papers collected by Roy Peratrovich, Sr. includes news clippings, correspondence, draft legislation, and his speeches and writings relating to Native rights and interests in Alaska. Includes the landmark anti-discrimination law providing for equal accommodation privileges to all citizens, the establishment in 1988 of Elizabeth Wanamaker Peratrovich Day (February 16), and activities of the Alaska Native Brotherhood and Sisterhood.

Film focus is on Hoonah High School students as they learn about Elizabeth Peratrovich and present her life in a play researched and written by Wanda Culp. Video can be divided into two parts for presenting to students. Part one introduces the players practicing and what they are learning about themselves as they learn about Elizabeth. Part two is the actual play the students present at the Grand Camp meeting of the ANB/ANS. Also available is the script of the play.
