I grew up in Dillingham, Alaska which is in the heart of the Bristol Bay region. I am Aleut and Athabaskan with a great mixture of other ethnicities! I have a strong Yupik vocabulary but for the most part I speak English. I graduated from Dillingham High School in 2000 and then pursued a higher education at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. It is there I received my bachelor of arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Education.
I enjoy coaching volleyball as well as Native Youth Olympics. I love to fish and go camping, especially on the Nushagak River. My passion is working with students at the high school level. I love to see “ah ha” moments when they truly understand and appreciate what it is that is being taught to them. I am going on my fifth school year with the Anchorage School District at Bartlett High School as an Indian Education Community Counselor. I am available to help with: scholarships, career counseling, give academic support and personal counseling and much more.
