I arrived in Fairbanks in June 1964, from Yuma, Arizona. The temperature difference was almost 60 degrees! My family was only going to stay for one year, but they have been in Alaska ever since. While I was in college in Idaho my family moved to Anchorage. Having come to Anchorage for many school and church activities I already had friends here. I decided to attend Alaska Business College to study legal secretarial science. I graduated in May 1974. My husband and I met at a church activity and married a year later. In 1976 we left Alaska for what we thought would be one year of school. It took us another nine years to come home. We have five children, three boys and two girls, and five wonderful grandsons. Another grandchild is due in February and I have my fingers crossed for a granddaughter! You will always find knitting needles and yarn near me, usually working on a gift for someone. I love mystery, science fiction and action books. Mary Higgins Clark, Dean Koontz and Orson Scott Card are some of my favorite authors. In the summer I enjoy working in my yard.
I have worked for the district for seven years. In February 2007 I moved from Special Education to Indian Education as a tutor. I LOVE IT! Romig has the most awesome Indian Ed students. I work with three different teams in their math support classes. During lunch students are welcome to bring their food and join me for visiting and tutoring. With the help and cooperation of CITC we hope to continue outdoor education, Native Youth Olympics and family gatherings. We hope to add more field trips and cultural craft making to the activities we provide. The best way to contact me is via e-mail. |
