I grew up on the Kuskokwim River, which is located along the southwestern part of Alaska.
I am ¾ Central Yupik Eskimo and ¼ Athabascan and my family is originally from Akiak and Tuluksak, Alaska. I speak fluently in Yupik Language. In
1986, I received my associates of arts degree from Bethel, Alaska in 1986 and my elementary of education degree in Social Science from University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1990.
I have three sisters and one brother. And I have three daughters and three sons, five beautiful grandchildren that I totally adore. I enjoy camping, fishing, berry picking, traveling by car, eBay & antique shopping, watch sunrise and sunset, knit, crochet, collect heart-shaped rocks, make dream catchers, humorous, resourceful, people oriented, flexible, open-minded, caring, in tune with my inner strength, good listener, understanding and outstanding personality.
My professional development goals for 2009-10 are engaging guardian/parent on-going participation, communication, and interaction with the school and will provide the family with information regarding the child’s progress. I plan to:
- Attend a least one open house to meet parents and invite them into my classroom
- Increase student achievement in reading comprehension/vocabulary and writing
- Increase mathematics number sense/numeration and computation/operation
- Contact guardian/parents at least once a quarter about student’s progress
- Call to discuss the various objectives that the student has worked on or send home personal letters to inform them about the progress. This is a good way to interact with parents, and discuss the positive statements about the student.
- I will use the Everyday Mathematics and games to provide directions for understanding, clarification of rules in math skills.
- I will also use Lightspan CD-ROM to increase mathematics, and reading to determine growth.
- Use English grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and practice writing to develop student’s learning.
