I grew up in Juneau and Fairbanks, Alaska and relocated to Anchorage 17 years ago. I have been in Alaska for forty years and my family is made up of lifetime Alaskans. I'm married with three grown children and six grandchildren. I am currently completing a bachelors degree at the University of Alaska, Anchorage in music education. While I have lived in Anchorage, I founded and developed a high school completion program for "at-risk" teens who were in need of educational support. My hobbies are playing piano and the pursuit of fine arts as well as teaching.
I have worked for the Anchorage School District for the Indian Education Department since March of 2009 at Wonder Park Elementary School. My educational philosophy is "every child can". I feel that all children are endowed with gifts and talents that can be grown and developed through a positive, nurturing, enthusiastic environment. Within a safe, loving environment, I believe that all children can learn to their highest potential. Through the Indian Education Department, I deliver support services to American and Alaskan Native children in their academic journey as well as serve as a school liaison to families. |
