I grew up in Michigan with my parents and 17 siblings. I graduated from Bear Lake High School in 1982 and moved to Alaska in 1983. I soon became an owner/operator of Arby’s restaurants in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and the North Pole. That kept me busy for almost twenty years! I am a current student at UAA and have a passion for learning. My husband, David, and I have been married for twenty-six years. We have two wonderful boys. Shawn is 19 and is a student at UAA, majoring in Biology. Ryan is 15 and will be playing varsity tennis for East High. This will be my eighth year with the Anchorage School District. This year will be my fourth with the Title VII Indian Education Program. At College Gate the students and I are always busy learning, having lunch together, and doing arts and crafts.
