Multi-Sensory Instruction (MSI)

Children who benefit from MSI after first grade may typically:

  • use poor and illegible letter forms

  • may read below intellectual capacity and ability to comprehend

  • may avoid reading and not read for pleasureChildren who may benefit from MSI

  • reverse the order of letters in words (no-on, saw-was) and/or make bizarre spelling attempts

  • struggle when putting events in order

  • express themselves well orally, but have difficulty getting thoughts on paper

  • may be good in math but poor in reading

  • may have difficulty understanding what is read aloud or comprehending directions
