Multi-Sensory Instruction (MSI)

Children who benefit from MSI after first grade may typically:

use poor and illegible letter forms

may read below intellectual capacity and ability to comprehend

may avoid reading and not read for pleasure Children who may benefit from MSI

reverse the order of letters in words (no-on, saw-was) and/or make bizarre spelling attempts

struggle when putting events in order

express themselves well orally, but have difficulty getting thoughts on paper

may be good in math but poor in reading

may have difficulty understanding what is read aloud or comprehending directions
