Screening

Each spring the MSI Program Office coordinates District screening for kindergarten students for early prevention of reading failure. For more information contact Elementary Education, 907-742-4254 or the MSI Office, 907-742-4879.

The pre-reading screening identifies students who may be at risk for learning to read, write or spell. This provides valuable information to parents.

Identification after kindergarten

The Anchorage School District offers free screening for students in second grade through twelfth in September, January and March. FIRST grade students are screened in January and March. Requests for screening can be made to the MSI office at 907-742-4879. The screening tests help identify how a student intakes information through the auditory, visual and kinesthetic modalities.
