Science Materials Center

The purpose of the Science Materials Center is to support quality science instruction by providing classroom teachers with the necessary materials to effectively teach hands-on, inquiry-based science as prescribed by the expanded ASD Elementary Science Frameworks.

The Science Materials Center staff serves more than 26,500 elementary students and 1,140 classroom teachers. The materials center is housed within the ASD Purchasing Warehouse facility located at 4919 Van Buren Street.

More than 1,270 science kits are refurbished and stored in approximately 4,500 square feet of space.

The Science Materials Center refurbishes and distributes science units three times per school year.
