2008 ASD Climate & Connectedness Student Survey
The 2008 Climate & Connectedness Student Survey is being done to provide schools
with information about perceptions and experiences related to school climate and
student connectedness for use in setting school goals and redirecting resources.
School climate and student connectedness have been shown to be pre-conditions for
learning to take place. The 2008 Climate & Connectedness Surveys will provide principals
and school staff valid and reliable data regarding school climate and student connectedness.
All ASD schools are taking many steps to improve school climate and student connectedness,
and these surveys will provide reliable data to document change in these areas.
The questions contained in the student questionnaire ask about School Leadership
and Student Involvement, Respective Climate, High Expectations, School Safety, Peer
Climate, Caring Adults, School Danger and Social and Emotional Skills.
2008 ASD Climate & Connectedness Staff Survey 2008
Climate & Connectedness Staff Survey is an online survey through www.surveymonkey.com.
The Assessment and Evaluation Department will send the Web link of the survey to
the email account of every staff member in the school (teachers, administrators,
counselors, support staff, etc.) on April 4, 2008.
Staff will complete the survey during the survey window, April 7-18. The online
survey will be closed on April 21.
2008 ASD Climate & Connectedness Parent/Guardian Survey
In an effort to increase the return rate, the Assessment and Evaluation Department
is going to provide parents/guardians with multiple opportunities to complete the
survey.
- Parent/guardian surveys will be available for parents/guardians to complete during
the April parent teacher conferences.
- Parent/guardian surveys will also be mailed with students’ SBA and HSGQE results
during the first week of June. There will be a separate mailing to parents/guardians
of juniors and seniors not taking the HSGQE retest and parents/guardians of grades
K, 1, and 2 students.
- Parents/guardians may also complete the survey on-line.
Parents/guardians will complete one survey for each child in school. In case of
dual guardianship, surveys will be mailed to each parent or guardian. The mailed
survey and on-line survey will have a notation to disregard the notice if they completed
a survey at the parent teacher conference.
Surveys mailed with the test results in June will be in self-addressed, postage
paid mailers, making it easy for parents/guardians to return the surveys directly
back to the Assessment & Evaluation Department. The same format is used for K, 1,
and 2 students.
