Health insurance contribution notification

Full text of letter sent to AEA members on September 29, 2006

TO: Anchorage School District AEA members

FROM: Payroll Department

RE: NEA Health Trust deductions

DATE: September 29, 2006

This memo is to notify you of an increase in the monthly teacher contribution for health insurance so that you may plan accordingly.

The Anchorage Education Association has advised the District that the deduction for health insurance for teachers enrolled in the NEA Health Plan will be $391 per eligible teacher per month for 9 months, beginning in October. The Association had previously indicated to us that the deduction for each teacher enrolled in the NEA Health Plan would be $234 per month, a $34 reduction from last year. However, this amount was based on the Tentative Agreement that would have increased the District’s contribution. The District contribution for health insurance remains at $700 per eligible teacher (including those who waive coverage) per month for 12 months based on the 2005-2006 negotiated agreement.
