AEA-ASD Contract Negotiations

The Anchorage School District and the Anchorage Education Association have reviewed concerns regarding bargaining-related buttons.  The organizations have reached a compromise, agreeing that buttons stating “No contract, still working” may be worn during the workday; however, “I don’t want to strike, but I will” buttons will not be permitted during the duty day except in staff lounges.  The association and the district agree that this compromise allows for personal expression while preserving the instructional environment.  Staff should refrain from discussing bargaining in the classroom.
