Title VII Indian Education Program

Welcome to the Title VII Indian Education Program

We support schools as they provide opportunities for Native students to meet and exceed academic and cultural standards. We also seek to assist families with navigating our schools across the district.

Native Advisory Committee Election

The Native Advisory Committee (NAC) is composed of six (6) parents/guardians of Alaska Native/Native American students enrolled in Anchorage School District (ASD), three (3) Alaska Native/Native American ASD secondary students, and two (2) ASD teachers or guidance counselors of Alaska Native/Native American ASD students.  The NAC serves as an advisory committee to the Title VII Indian Education Program and Anchorage School District.  It is comprised of volunteer citizens who meet the following qualifications: 

  • is interested in improving education for Alaska Native/Native American students and commitment to the purpose of the Anchorage School District Title VII Indian Education Program; 
  • is willing and able to attend meetings regularly; 
  • is committed to working toward increased communication with the community in the conduct of NAC affairs; 

The NAC meets at least once each month, with occasional meetings for subcommittees.  The total time requirement of members is approximately 3 to 6 hours monthly. We are currently seeking 2 parents/guardians, 2 teacher/counselor, and 3 student representatives.If you are interested in serving on the NAC, submit the following application by Friday, April 24, 2015 at 5:00 PM. MUST BE PRESENT AT ELECTION MEETING ON TUESDAY, APRIL 28, 2015, ASD EDUCATION CENTER, BOARD ROOM, 6 PM.

A 21st century online success program for Alaska Native and American Indian ASD high school students. Students are able to earn core high school credit through online coursework to get on-track to graduate, grade improvement or get ahead.

ASD's Title VII Indian Education Program has staff in schools across the district who concentrate their efforts on academic assistance, counseling and cultural enrichment. We receive funding from two sources: the U.S. Department of Education under Title VII - Indian, Native Hawaiian and Alaska Native Education and from the Anchorage School District for Native Education.
