Educational Technology
On December 15, 2006, the Consortium for Digital Learning 1:1 Laptop Project outfitted a team of 60 students, eventually expanding to a total of 300 students, and five teachers at Wendler Middle School with personal laptop computers for use at school and home. The laptop initiative is designed to engage students in learning and to increase student achievement. A team of teachers is integrating computer-based applications, digital content and multi-media presentations into the classroom curriculum and instruction. Student achievement and other indicators of student engagement are being closely monitored. On-going professional development opportunities are being provided through Apple Computers, the ASD Educational Technology Department, and the ASD Middle School Division. Wendler Middle School is an incredibly diverse and vibrant middle school that serves the community by providing educational opportunity and academic challenge to all of their students.
