Language Arts
Reading, writing, listening, speaking, and viewing are the language arts. Their fundamental purpose is to equip all students with the strategies and skills to make sense of self, others, and of the world. The understandings achieved will be profoundly influenced by the ways in which we use the language arts as tools for thought and communication. Curriculum Alignment 2012: Teacher teams spent the summer revising our curriculum guides to create academic plans aligned to the Common Core State Standards. These academic plans are being now available at www.asdk12.org/AcademicPlans. The cross-district in-service on August 20 included an introduction to the new plans. |
