Internet Resources

Internet sites that have MARC records fully cataloged with Dewey classification can be exported to Workflows.

These Internet sites can be located using NetFirst, one of the data bases of FirstSearch, or they can be found in WorldCat.

Note:If an Internet site is not found, send request to Ruth Jean's attention by e-mail citing URL accurately.

If MARC record is found in FirstSearch, send a printout of the NetFirst or WorldCat record to Library Resources with a note to add to Workflows.

MARC format:

The call number will have a superscript WWW

          example: WWW 808 W

The item type will be determined by the Dewey classification.

          example: INTERNET R

The home location will be WWW

The barcode on the first link will be from Library Resources.

A bulletin heading, Internet Resources, enabling the record to show up in WebCat, will be added to the record.

URLs will be updated on a regular schedule.

If the school wishes to have this resource show up in the school library index, a "virtual barcode" can be added to the volume screen. These titles can be tracked by keeping a paper copy of the record with the barcode attached in a three-ringed binder at the school library. The list also is maintained online.
