Linking Multivolume Sets

Sirsi has recommended that each volume of a multivolume set, ex. Encyclopedias, be linked separately as a volume (set) to the MARC record in order to show the volume number in the call number display. Figure 1

R 970.1 E
The encyclopedia of North American Indians / general editor, D.L. Birchfield.
New York : Marshall Cavendish, 1997.
11 v. (1536 p.) : ill. (some col.) ;29 cm.

fig 1

Each volume is linked to the MARC record with the "Add Call Numbers and Items Maintenance" wizard, when editing the call number, the volume number can be added.

Call numbers will show "V.1".
Example: R 970.1 E V.1

Note: There is no space between the V. and the number.

Additional sets of the same title should be entered as "Copies." For example, Volume 1 might have Copy 1 and Copy 2.
