MARC records for Serials
AAA Serials, periodical, magazines or continuations items are resources that are published with a frequency feature in the MARC record. Some examples are yearbooks, almanacs, and magazines. Note: The MARC record for serials differs from the MARC records for monographs (books). Usually it is an "Open Entry", meaning publication date is not closed.
The book was published by Pebble Books in 1998. A serial imprint field might look like this: This means the serial was first published in 1923. The "open entry" date is indicated by the dash (-) Make sure the publisher of your serial matches the publisher in the MARC record. Steps to link a serial record: 1. Search in Workflows or WebCat. for the record using the ISSN number (not the ISBN). When searching, type the hyphen between the parts of the ISSN number: 2. Make sure the publisher matches. 3. Link your school to the record in Workflows by adding a holding for each different year. Use the call number of a previous edition but just add the year of your edition to the call number. 317 W 2000 Additional copies of the same year can be added to the volume entry.
