The Migrant Education Program provides a variety of services to eligible families, including:
Year-round
Book bags
Book bags are also available for check out for preschool through elementary school aged children. Each book bag contains a book with accompanying activities. These are available at the ASD Education Center.
Family activities
Occasionally throughout the year, the Migrant Education Program will host family activities such as roller skating, sledding and ice fishing.
Swimming lessons
The Migrant Education Program believes that it is extremely important to have strong swimming skills due to the fishing lifestyle of most of the migrant families in our program. Spring and summer
Life vests
Due to the fishing lifestyle of most of the migrant families in our program, life vests in sizes infant through adult are available for check out free of charge at our main Migrant Education Program office.
Summer
Summer school scholarships
Summer school scholarships are available for those students who require extra assistance with their studies. You must first have contact with your child's teacher and/or principal or counselor.
If your child will be enrolling in the Anchorage School District summer school, you will need to complete an application and waiver of fees form. If you need assistance, please call our office at 907-742-4275.
If your child will be taking summer school at another accredited facility or online, the Migrant Education Program may be able to assist you by reimbursing a portion of the registration fees. Please call the main office at 907-742-4275 for more information.
