6th Grade Band:
Supply List

The following supplies can be purchased at a number
of local music stores. Look under “Music” in the phone
book yellow pages for a list of stores. Be sure to call
ahead to be sure all supplies are in stock for your
particular instrument.

1. Standard of Excellence, Book I
2. Folder for music book, handouts & pencil
3. Pencil
4. Folding music stand for home practice and festivals
5. Supplies for each instrument as listed:

Flute:
cleaning rod and a large handkerchief

Clarinet & Saxophone:
cork grease, cleaning swab, reed guard, five #2 reeds
(Keep at least 2 reeds in reed guard in case at all times.)

Trumpet & Cornet:
valve oil and tuning slide grease to be kept in case, and a mouthpiece brush and cleaning cable brush (“snake”) for home

Horn:
same as trumpet except get rotary valve oil

Baritone & Tuba:
same as trumpet. Be sure to get the bass clef book for baritone.

Trombone:
same as trumpet except get slide oil instead of valve oil

Percussion:
"percussion kit" (set of bells with mallets, practice pad, one pair 2B drumsticks (Students may get a real snare drum instead of a practice pad, but real drums are LOUD.) Be sure to get the "combination" Yamaha band book (includes bell and drum parts).
