Read Aloud Roundup

As a rule, a good read aloud is engaging, emotionally compelling, and a source of pleasure or insight. A good read aloud may also be a catalyst for discussion, writing and curriculum connections. We believe it is a priority to pre-read, love the book you are reading, and know your audience and purpose before choosing a title to read aloud.

After reading many recent young adult publications, we have suggested read aloud titles with copyright dates from 1998-2001. We hope this list will be an ongoing project that provides new read aloud material to support your students and curriculum.

The list was compiled by:

  • Kama Mitchell, Chugiak High School Librarian
  • Mary Jo Iagulli, Gruening Middle School Librarian
  • Sherry Girard, Fire Lake Elementary Librarian
