Theresa Heckart, Central Middle School Art Teacher:

What a great experience for my students to be a part of the First Friday Art Walk! The event tied in perfectly with Youth Art Month and the School District Art Show at the museum. Pat Tegtmeier made the event very special when she advertised the show on flyers displayed in the Novel View bookstore, and ordered a cake for my students that was served at the First Friday event. My students who did show up to see their work with their family took advantage of the First Friday events and checked out other art openings in the downtown area. Thanks for everything Pat!

Pat Tegtmeier, Owner, A Novel View:

It was wonderful to host a reception for the Central Middle School art students of their enthusiastic and dedicated teacher, Theresa Heckart at my bookstore, A Novel View, during March of 2004.

I am pleased to say that I was able to offer this opportunity by virtue of the art-conscious community in Anchorage who values art.

Many of the March 5th First Friday Art Walk aficionados came by, not to buy art as they would to a gallery, but because student art was on exhibit and they wanted to encourage and appreciate art in the young and into the future. It was a great pleasure for me. And, Theresa Heckart is a jewel of a teacher!

About twenty 7th and 8th graders exhibited their colorful and imaginative art at A Novel View during March.
