The Eagle River Rotary Club has partnered
with Eagle River High ever since the
school opened in 2005. The Rotary Club
specifically wanted to reward growth and
improvement by students in the Eagle
River/Chugiak community. As a result, the
Most Improved Student recognition program
was born.
Each quarter, staff members are
allowed to nominate students who make
significant improvements in the classroom.
Approximately 70 staff members are given
this opportunity three times throughout
the year, and as a result over 200 students
have been honored since the program’s
inception. |
 |
Nominated students are given certificates
and they are publicly acknowledged
in the Eagle River High School newsletter.
They also gather to have pizza and soda
at recognition ceremony that is generously
sponsored by the Rotary Club. The
recognition means a lot to the students
and their families. One girl said, “My parents
are usually expecting the school to
be calling about something that I’ve done
wrong that they will yell at me about. It
was great being able to tell them that I was
recognized for something positive as Most
Improved Student.”
Members of the Rotary Club enrich the
lives of Eagle River High School students
by praising their successes and helping
them plan for the future. Thank you to all
members of the Eagle River Rotary Club! |
