Social Studies Curriculum

The Social Studies Six-Year Plan seeks to provide ASD educators the tools requisite to facilitate students’ lifelong civic competence and a love of learning, based upon a strong multidisciplinary foundation of knowledge and skills.  History, geography, and civics/government are the core content areas students explore to accomplish these objectives.  Social studies standards (skills and content) drive the curriculum, and other literacy and math skills are reinforced in order to meet these goals. Current curriculum and pacing guides for grades 7 through 10 are found using the links on the left.  Curricula for U.S. Government, Economics, high school electives and elementary social studies are in various stages of review and redesign.  The adopted curriculum under review in those areas is available using the links on the left.

Other topics of interest can be explored through the menu on the right including links to state and national standards, online resources and teacher specific resources.

A Learning Opportunities Web page for ASD Social Studies teachers & students is now a part of our Social Studies Web site.  Please take a look at the many opportunities for social studies travel and learning available to ASD teachers and students.  This site is continually changing, as new opportunities become known, so check back periodically.  If you know of any opportunities that we can share, please pass them on to John Trampush at trampush_john@asdk12.org and we will add them to this growing collection…
