Primary Source: Library: Teacher Created Curriculum	Ancient Civilizations, 9th Grade World History, Asian Studies	Teachers, grades 7-12	Ancient China – Han and Tang Dynasties	This lesson plan has students read an original source document “Lessons for a Woman” written during the Han dynasty and a brief account on a Tang Dynasty empress to examine the changing role of women in Ancient China. One class period.
Primary Source: Library: Teacher Created Curriculum	Ancient Civilizations, 9th Grade World History, Asian Studies	Teachers, grades 7-12	Ancient China – Mandate of Heaven	This lesson plan has students read an original source account detailing the Mandate of Heaven, which Chinese emperors used to justify their rule. Students will complete a worksheet (linked to the Web site) to understand the Mandate of Heaven and think about ways in which governments justify their rule. One class period.

Lesson plan topics include: Class structure in Feudal Japan, What is a Memoir?, Art and Literature in Feudal Japan.
The Japan Project – Japanese Culture	9th Grade World History, Asian Studies	Teachers, grades 9-12	Feudal Japan, Samurai culture	This lesson plan contains original sources, visual and written, and aims to help students answer the question of whether we should live by the values of the Samurai, and then helps them examine what those values were. Includes a handout and discussion questions.
