“Posted” major means your college transcript indicates your major by using the word “major.”



Education classes will NOT satisfy major equivalency.  No Ed courses.

National Board Certification in content area for secondary teachers or in grade level for elementary teachers.

Refer to this web site to view a list of approved tests and the necessary cut scores.

You must supply documentation to HR from your previous school district.

a. Degree in content area

b.  Posted major in content area

c.  Major Equivalency (30 semester credits in content area)

Education (ED) classes do not apply.  Elementary Education degree does not satisfy this option.

3. Praxis II Exam

Select the test pertaining to the content area in which you seek HQ status.

4. HOUSSE

Only those employed prior to July 1, 2002 are eligible for HOUSSE.  You must accrue 100 points.

For those who received highly qualified status in another state.
