Charitable Giving Campaign at the Anchorage School District
Recipe for Success: The Key Ingredient is YOU
CAMPAIGN KICKOFF
Hear Mike Abbott, assistant superintendent of Support Services, discuss ASD's support for the Charitable Giving Campaign (0:40 seconds).
Hear Superintendent Carol Comeau offer gratitude to campaign coordinators (0:39 seconds).
You can help prevent hunger, homelessness, drug addiction and abuse in our community by contributing to the Anchorage School District Charitable Giving Campaign—and, you can make it relatively easy on yourself by using payroll deduction.
Last year, ASD staff raised more than $336,000 to improve our community, with more than $5,000 set aside for the Anchorage Schools Foundation Fund, which was included in the campaign for the first time.
Your donation not only makes a difference in the lives of those among us who are most vulnerable to misfortune, or who are struggling—it’s the key ingredient in a recipe for a successful community that benefits us all. Thank you!

Seek out the Charitable Giving Campaign Coordinator at yourschool, facility or support unit. The coordinator is prepared to answer questions and help complete the forms.
The pledge form provides you with many options of payment including cash, check, credit card and payroll deduction. Donations by payroll deduction begin in January 2010. Checks should be made payable to: ASD Charitable Giving Campaign.
You may choose from a directory of agencies provided by the United Way of Anchorage, Alaska Community Share and the Alaska Community Foundation to support with your donation. Space also is provided on the pledge form for employees to designate the agency or agencies they want to receive their contribution under this donor option policy. To qualify as a donor option, the organization must have 501(c)(3) tax status under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code of 1954. The agency must be providing health and human care service in Alaska. Designations to agencies that are unable to provide tax exempt verification by Dec. 15, 2009, will be considered undesignated funds.
If no organizations are designated, your contribution will be split between the United Way of Anchorage and Alaska Community Share. If a non-qualifying agency is designated, the Anchorage School District will notify the donor.
Special thanks to this year’s Charitable Giving coordinators, and a round of applause for ASD’s 2009 Charitable Giving Lead Coordinator, Darlene Smith!
