JON GONIWIECHA

Hi, welcome to my page.

If you would like any information regarding your son's/daughter's progress, please e-mail me and I'll reply to you promptly. Grades will be available from the new Zangle interface shortly, perhaps sometime in September. If you need any updates before then, please e-mail me.

I am genuinely excited about teaching your sons and daughters this year. More and more as my career progresses, I value meeting new students each year. I inevitably run into them around town years later and we both look back fondly on the good times and bad times we shared in Math class.

My Philosophy on Mathematics

Each year in all Math classes everywhere, the question arises: "When are we ever gonna use this?" My philosophy is this, in most cases you are not going to apply most of the skills or techniques directly out in the real world. You will however use all of it indirectly on a daily basis. Math is like a big complicated game. To play the game, you have to learn the rules. The thought processes that are used and exercised in learning Math are going to be used to work through other complex situations. Solving problems on the job, making good informed life decisions, etc. are going to be enhanced by going through the trials and tribulations in Math. Furthermore, we don't advance as a species without Math. Every advanced civilization in the world deems Math important enough to teach it to all of its citizenry. A small but important percentage of students will understand enough of it to make significant new breakthroughs in technology, medicine, and engineering.

I look forward to another exciting year with students.
